Terms of Service
Last updated November 3, 2026
These are the rules for using HoloEx. By creating an account or using the site you agree to them. HoloEx is run by a small team of college students; we've kept this short and in plain English. Questions: holoexcustomerservice@gmail.com.
What HoloEx is
HoloEx is a place to show the trading cards you own, find other collectors, and arrange card-for-card trades. We provide the listings, matching, messaging, price estimates and trade tracking. We are not a party to any trade. Every trade is an agreement between the two traders, who ship cards directly to each other or meet in person. HoloEx doesn't hold cards, escrow payments or handle money.
Your account
- You need to be at least 13 to use HoloEx. If you're under 18, trade with a parent or guardian's knowledge, since real cards get shipped to real addresses.
- One account per person. You're responsible for what happens under your account. Sign-in is through Google; keep that account secure.
- Use your real identity. Don't impersonate another trader, a grading company or HoloEx.
Trading rules
- List only cards you own and describe them accurately: real photos of the actual copy, the honest condition, and the true grade and certification number for slabbed cards.
- Once both traders accept an offer, ship what you agreed to, well packaged, within 5 days, and add the tracking number in the trade.
- Confirm receipt promptly and honestly. Marking "received" completes the trade and moves the cards between binders on HoloEx.
- Meeting in person instead of shipping? Both traders have to agree to it in the trade, and each confirms in the app once they have the other's cards.
- Reviews must be about the trade you actually completed. No review trading, no retaliation reviews.
- Raw cards above our value threshold must be professionally graded before they can be traded here. That rule exists to protect both sides.
If a trader doesn't ship, ships something different, or otherwise breaks these rules, tell us. We can suspend accounts and remove listings, but we can't recover cards or refund value; trade with people whose reviews and history you trust, and insure valuable packages.
You trade at your own risk
HoloEx is not responsible for trades between users. When you accept a trade, you're dealing directly with the other trader, and you take on the risk that comes with that, including:
- the other trader not sending their card, sending a different or fake card, or sending one in worse condition than described;
- cards lost, delayed or damaged in the mail (insure valuable packages and keep your tracking);
- disagreements about value, condition or grade.
We'll look at reports and can suspend accounts, but we don't guarantee any trade, and we can't recover cards or pay out their value.
Meeting in person. If you and another trader choose to swap cards face to face, HoloEx isn't there and can't settle disputes about it. Meet in a busy public place, such as a card shop or a police station's safe exchange zone, check the cards before you hand yours over, and bring a friend. If you're under 18, bring a parent or guardian.
Price estimates
Values shown on HoloEx come from market data (credited where shown) and, for raw cards, our estimate of what a copy might grade. They're guides, not appraisals or offers to buy. Markets move and our estimates can be wrong. You decide what a trade is worth to you.
Things you can't do
- List counterfeit, stolen or altered cards, or fake slabs.
- Harass, threaten or scam other traders, or ask them to move the trade off HoloEx to avoid the record.
- Scrape, copy or redistribute the site's data, including price data, which is licensed to us and not to you.
- Attack, overload or try to break into the site or other people's accounts.
- Use HoloEx for anything illegal.
Your content
You own the photos and text you post. You give HoloEx permission to show them on the site to other traders, which is the whole point of posting them. Don't post things you don't have the right to share. We can remove content that breaks these terms.
Our content and other people's
Pokémon and sports-card names, images and logos belong to their respective owners; HoloEx is not affiliated with or endorsed by The Pokémon Company, Nintendo, any sports league, card manufacturer or grading company. Card images are provided courtesy of TCGdex and market prices by PriceCharting, under their terms. The HoloEx name, logo and site design are ours.
Ending an account
You can leave any time: delete your account from the Account tab on your binder, or email us, as described in the Privacy Policy. We can suspend or close accounts that break these rules, and we'll tell you why unless doing so would help someone else break them.
No warranties, limited liability
HoloEx is provided as is. It's a student-built service and may have bugs, downtime or inaccurate data. To the fullest extent the law allows, HoloEx and the people who run it aren't liable for losses arising from trades between users, from reliance on price estimates, or from use of the site, and our total liability to you for anything is limited to $100. Some jurisdictions don't allow all of these limits, so parts may not apply to you.
Changes
We may update these terms as HoloEx grows. If a change matters, we'll update the date above and mention it on the site. Using HoloEx after that means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
